Not as good as its predecessor, but still a very good crime drama. However, players familiar with Max’s history will pick up on some things. Pretty much all that you need to know you are told, or can infer by paying attention. It does help, but as long as you know that Max is a self-abusive ex-cop whose wife and child were killed in the line of duty several years before the game begins, you will be fine. The game does not require knowledge of previous games. It’s a wild ride, and we are taken along with Max for the thrill.
It’s a fascinating tale of deceit, crime, and abuse of power. Given that he has been mixing Scotch and painkillers, that proves to be problematic. But, as with any crime story, nothing is as it seams, and Max is soon trying to rescue his employer’s trophy wife, all while trying to put the pieces together of what happened and preventing it from escalating.
